In a new documentary, Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding, narrator Tracy-Ann Oberman says that despite Charles saying he didn’t love the people’s princess, “he was sure he could”.
The doco looks at the madness in the lead up to the royal couples 1981 wedding, including the Prince’s reservations about Diana’s age.
“She does not look old enough to be out of school, much less married.”
Meanwhile BBC journalist Angela Rippon also features in the documentary where she discusses Princess Diana’s ‘tense’ replies in a TV interview with Prince Charles.
The newsreader claims the people’s princess was ‘out of her depth’ when she sat down for an interview the night before their nuptials.

Looking back at the footage, Angela said: ‘When I say “wishing you a lifetime of happiness together,” he looks towards her and she looks down at the floor.
‘That expression on Diana’s face at the end speaks volumes… gosh. Might have told so much more about what was to come.’

She added: ‘And obviously, with the knowledge of hindsight, you read so much more into body language, what was said, looks that were given, reactions, that’s the value of hindsight isn’t it?’
The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer in the royal wedding of the century at St Paul’s Cathedral in London in July, 1981.
