“I never pass on words of wisdom, especially when you’ve just had a baby, it’s so difficult to just be,” she told the BBC.
“I just think that you should get through the first three or four months and then we can talk.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison, on May 6.
He will be christened on Saturday at Queen Elizabeth’s private chapel at Windsor Castle, a location on the grounds of their home that they chose because they “wanted an intimate, peaceful setting in a place with such a special connection to Her Majesty,” according to People.
Around 25 close family members are set to attend, and while Serena is hotly tipped to be one of them, it is yet to be confirmed.
The eight-time tennis number one has a 22-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, with millionaire Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
Speaking about her role as a mother, Serena said: “Becoming a mum has changed my perspective on a lot of things, I want to leave a legacy.
“I want to be this positive person for my daughter. Everything I do I want to do for my daughter.
“I think parents today say, ‘we want this, we want our kids to do this and this,’ but I’m like ‘we didn’t turn out that bad.'”
Serena and the former Suits actress have remained close friends since first meeting at a Super Bowl party in 2010.
At the time she took to her blog The Tig to share her excitement with her fans.
“Taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing and chatting not about tennis or acting but about good old fashioned girly stuff,” she wrote about the duo’s encounter.
Meghan also supported Serena alongside her sister-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, at Wimbledon last year.
