After Fergie and Prince Andrew looked like lovestruck teens, flirting up a storm at Ascot last week, Fergie was seen curtseying to the Queen and was visibly thrilled to be back in the royal fold.
Both the Queen and Fergie appeared comfortable in each other’s company and Sarah couldn’t have looked happier.
Over the past couple of years, Fergie has been allowed to attend more royal gatherings in a bid to get approval and it looks like her efforts have paid off.
Much to Fergie’s delight, royal insiders tell New Idea she’s finally got the Queen’s blessing!
‘The whole palace is buzzing with speculation that Fergie and Andrew will remarry by the end of the year,’ says a royal insider.
‘It’s been on the cards for a long time but, now with the royal approval, things can move quickly. The Queen sees how happy her son is with his former wife and how delighted Beatrice and Eugenie would be if their parents reconciled, and so has given her blessing to remarry.’
Despite divorcing in 1996, Sarah and the Duke of York have remained living together in the Royal Lodge in Windsor – although Sarah lives in separate quarters down the hall. So the fact that they have remained close is of no surprise.
That said, there’s a few royals who won’t be happy the couple are reuniting.
According to the insider, Philip of course will never approve of their reconciliation and has made that very clear to both of them – he has never forgiven Fergie for the embarrassment and shame her toe-sucking scandal brought to his wife and the monarchy.
The Queen might be able to move on, but he can’t. Camilla is also not approving of the reunion and thinks Fergie has disgraced herself and doesn’t deserve a second chance.
The Queen on the other hand is way more forgiving.
‘Her Majesty hasn’t let her husband’s opinion sway her.
She’s 92 now and just wants to see her sons and grandchildren happy and loved. Harry and Meghan’s wedding has put a spring in her step and she’d love to have another royal nuptial before the end of the year.
‘It was why the Queen and Fergie got on so famously at Ascot – it’s fair to say the duchess is right back in the royal fold,’ the insider spills.
Of course, their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie couldn’t be happier and are loving helping their parents organise their second wedding.
In 2013, Fergie spoke about her strong affection for her ex-husband.
‘He really is still my handsome prince,’ she said.
Fergie also spoke of how the couple still shared strong family values: ‘We really believe in being good parents for our girls.
‘It’s lovely that we are such a family and the story has a happy ending all the time.
‘In our everyday, we respect each other and we honour each other,’ said the duchess.
Most recently when Fergie uploaded an Instagram snap of the pair together last week, fans went into meltdown and commented: ‘Just get married already!’ and ‘I love these two. Why don’t they get remarried?’
