She’s the mother to four children Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, and according to a new report, Queen Elizabeth has a clear favourite.
In 2019 Channel 5 documentary Paxman on the Queen’s Children, royal historian Piers Brendon reveals that the British monarch favours her second youngest child, Prince Andrew because he’s an “action man.”
“Andy skipped university and went straight to naval college, which went down well with his naval officer father.
“He completed the Marines Commando course, just to show he could, before qualifying as a helicopter pilot,” host Jeremy Paxman reveals.
“Then, aged just 22, he fought in the Falklands.”
Mr Brendon noted how his dedication to serve his country won his mother’s heart.
The historian said: “Prince Andrew is obviously the Queen’s favourite son.
“He was heroic during the Falklands War – she clearly has a soft spot for him.”
While it remains unknown whether Elizabeth’s alleged favouritism is responsible for the rift between Charles and Andrew, the brothers have never been close.
The Express reports that sources close to Buckingham Palace have previously claimed the heir to the throne had been jealous of his brother for being “the best looking of all of them” while growing up.
Charles himself described Andrew as “the one with the Robert Redford looks”.
