A royal insider and close friend of Her Majesty has recently revealed the full extent of Queen Elizabeth’s makeup routine, and it may surprise you.

Angela Kelly – the monarch’s longtime dressmaker and close friend – has revealed in her new book The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, Queen Elizabeth’s makeup routine.

According to the book, the Queen will hardly ever opt for a makeup artist, instead she will do her own face for events. 

According to Angela Kelly, the only exception to this ‘no makeup artist’ rule is on the holidays, before her yearly recording of the Christmas Speech.

Angela told PEOPLE magazine: “You might be surprised to know that this is the only occasion throughout the year when Her Majesty does not do her own makeup.”

As for the other royal women, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are equally low-key, and are also known for doing their own makeup.
