Despite being born into the royal family, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice have felt overshadowed by Kate Middleton ever since she joined ‘The Firm’ when she married Prince William in 2011.

According to resurfaced reports, the York sisters have felt pushed out by Kate and even blame Queen Elizabeth for letting the Duchess take centre stage.
Writing back in May 2016, Catherine Ostler explained in the Daily Mail that there was a “cold relationship” between Kate, Beatrice and Eugenie, as the Queen appeared to be putting Kate into the spotlight more than her own grandchildren.
The reporter added: “It particularly hurt when Kate did solo engagements with the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee.
“They felt snubbed.”
One particularly significant gesture came when the Queen invited Kate on a tour of the UK to celebrate her 60th year on the throne back in 2012.
The Duchess of Cambridge was the only royal to have been invited, aside from Prince Philip.
It was reported at the time that the Queen made sure Kate was given lessons on how to act as a royal wife too.
Queen Elizabeth was also thought to have taken Kate under her wing as she will one day be expected to carry out the role of Queen Consort.
Since William and Kate tied the knot, Beatrice and Eugenie have been pushed out of the spotlight, with the focus falling on the Cambridge clan.
According to reporter Catherine Ostler writing in the Daily Mail in May 2016, it’s clear there is a division between the future Queen Consort and Beatrice and Eugenie.
Discussing a particular image from 2016, where Prince Andrew’s daughters are seen walking behind instead of next to the Duchess of Cambridge, she noted there was clearly “a rather chilly relationship”.
She explained: “The three women weren’t walking together, gossiping companionably, as you might imagine, say, Zara Phillips, Beatrice and Eugenie might have done.
Gathered for a celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday, Kate was pictured walking alone ahead of the two sisters.
“Some say that this froideur, on what was supposed to be an idyllic occasion, a celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday, is not new.”
The article pointed out that these tensions are “rooted in far more than mere sartorial competitiveness”, with resentment growing over what the York sisters see as Kate’s “preferential treatment” by the rest of the royals.
A royal insider said: “Despite being the only young ‘blood Princesses’ (in other words, born royal), Beatrice and Eugenie have been reduced to walk-on parts in Royal Family life.
“It particularly hurt when Kate did solo engagements with the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee. They felt snubbed.”
The news is in contrast to how the royal children grew up, as they were extremely close when they were children.
There was even a time when the future King played a cruel trick on his young cousins.
According to the UK’s OK! Magazine, former royal chef Darren McGrady revealed that one year, William decided to make a Hickory Dickory Dock nursery rhyme themed chocolate egg.
“It had a clock on the top striking one and a sugared mouse peeking out of a mousehole,” he told the UK publication.
“We sent it up to the nursery on the silver tray, but 15 minutes later the Footman brought it back.
“He said, ‘Nanny asked me to return this. Prince William has just stood on a chair and bitten the mouse’s head off, frightening Beatrice and Eugenie.'”
But all was not lost, and the chef quickly got to work making another mouse.
He said: “We had to quickly make another mouse, pop it in the hole and send it back to the nursery.
“I think Nanny put the egg out of William’s reach to make sure it didn’t happen again.”
