Princess Eugenie and long-time partner Jack Brooksbank announced their engagement this week, and fans across the world reveled in the exciting news.
Now, Brooksbanks’ grandmother, Joanna Newton, has taken a slight jab at her grandson following the announcement.
Talking to MailOnline, the 91-year-old praised Princess Eugenie for agreeing to marry her ‘charming’ grandson, but joked he is not the brightest bulb.
‘I never thought he would get married to a royal. He’s a charming boy and all that but not the most intelligent and I would never have thought this would happen,’ she told the publication.
Brooksbanks’ grandmother further described her grandson as a ‘good egg and revealed, ‘I think it says a lot about Eugenie that it’s him she wants and it’s lovely.’
The couple have not yet announced the official date of their big day, but it is presumed to be in early October this year.
