It’s the royal engagement news the world has been waiting for – and now it seems two new announcements are on the way for Prince Harry and his bride-to-be, Meghan.
New Idea can exclusively reveal that wedding invitations have been sent out to special guests for a ‘winter wedding’ in the UK, with the Queen giving her blessing for the hugely anticipated royal nuptials.
‘Invitations have been sent to senior royals and key dignitaries to ‘save the date,” says a top palace courtier. ‘Given that there’s a very short turnaround on the announcement and wedding, the Queen wants to make sure that none of the senior royals and politicians organise holidays or special events around that time.
‘The Queen wants to wait until after her and Philip’s anniversary celebrations are over before making an announcement on the wedding date, but plans for a winter ceremony are well under way.’
But now, well-placed palace sources tell New Idea that more bombshell announcements are on their way, amid rumours that the couple are expecting their first child and could be married in as little as eight weeks.
‘We’ve heard on very good authority that Meghan is already pregnant,’ a top palace courtier has revealed. ‘Prince Harry has told the Queen that they would like to marry ‘as soon as possible,’ which is only making the pregnancy speculation even more rife.’
While baby rumours run rife, preparations for the official wedding ceremony appear to be moving along very steadily. Sources tell New Idea that 36-year-old Meghan has already asked future sister-in-law Kate – who’ll be heavily pregnant at the nuptials – to be maid of honour, while Princess Charlotte will be bridesmaid and Prince George one of the pageboys.
Trusted palace correspondent Phil Dampier has also given insight into the wedding plans, revealing that the couple will take on the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the wedding. He also revealed that more than 700 guests will attend the ceremony, which will be held at Westminster Abbey.
