While fans were in a royal frenzy placing bets on names such as James, Alexander, Arthur and Spencer, we all forgot that it was Prince George who gave us the biggest hint.
Back in January 5-year-old Prince George was out walking with grandmother Carole Middleton and sister, Princess Charlotte, when he spotted a puppy.
Making a beeline for the dog, George began to pat it lovingly while talking to the dog’s owner, before announcing himself as ‘Archie’.
The woman told the Sun at the time: “Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew.
“To my astonishment he said ‘I’m called Archie’ with a big smile on his face.
“I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely.”
On Wednesday the Duke and Duchess of Sussex finally introduced their beautiful baby boy to the world – and it was everything we imagined it to be and more.
Standing on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and his glowing wife Meghan Markle were beaming with pride as they posed for photos with their precious bundle of joy who was sleeping soundly in his father’s arms.
“He’s just been the dream so it’s been a special couple of days,” Meghan declared.
“It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
As her husband held their son, Meghan added: “He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.”
