While the world waits in anticipation for the arrival of baby Sussex, Princess Diana and her telling interview serve as a reminder that the birth of a royal baby is no walk in the park.
In Andrew Morton’s book Diana: Her True Story, the shunned Princess not only recalled the enormous pressure she felt during both Prince William and Prince Harry’s pregnancy’s but that Charles had always wanted Harry to be ‘ a girl’.

In the book, Diana explained that Charles wanted a girl so badly, that when Diana found out that Harry was a boy she kept it a secret from the Prince of Wales:
“Charles always wanted a girl. He wanted two children, and he wanted a girl. I knew Harry was a boy, and I didn’t tell him.”
When Diana delivered the Duke of Sussex, Charles barely hid his disappointment.
“First comment was: ‘Oh God, it’s a boy,’ the second comment: ‘And he’s even got red hair,’ ‘ Diana recounted.
The delivery room wasn’t the only time Charles expressed his disappointment in his son.
During Harry’s christening, Diana recalls a conversation between Charles and her mother, after Charles said they were “disappointed” as they thought “it would be a girl.”
“Mummy snapped his head off, saying: ‘You should realized how lucky you are to have a child that’s normal.’ Every since that day the shutters have come down, and that’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him,” Diana said.
