But before the little one arrives, there’s something mum-to-be Meghan wants to settle once and for all – and that’s her relationship with sister-in-law Kate.

With rumours of ongoing tension between the pair still making headlines, it is understood the Duchess of Sussex will extend an olive branch and is planning to ask Kate to be godmother to her and Prince Harry’s first child.

“With all the feuding going on with her family in the States, she feels that having the toxic Kate situation on top of that is just another massive burden,” a royal insider told a UK publication recently, adding the coveted role was originally going to bestowed upon Meghan’s best friend, tennis champion Serena Williams.

However, after talking to her husband Harry about it, the couple have decided to keep it in the family and hope it will help strengthen Meghan and Kate’s bond.

Yet, whether or not Kate will accept Meghan’s heartfelt proposal remains uncertain with some suggesting the Duchess of Cambridge is worried it will only create further public backlash.

“Kate is aware that Meghan is thinking down these lines and she’s surprisingly open to it, but she is also concerned it might be seen as just a gesture for the public and that people will be cynical.”
