The former actress is also believed to have flown commercial following backlash over her use of private jets.
A source told the publication: “It is a last-minute trip. Excited to support her friend, and then come back.”
A source told the New York Post that the trip was part motivated by damage control following her highly publicised use of private jets.
“She’s coming after the scandal over people taking photos of her at Wimbledon this summer and will come with at least two police protection officers,” the source said, “but they won’t be able to stop gawkers from taking photos.”
Meanwhile Page Six has run a report saying Serena’s coaching team are worried that Meghan’s presence might distract Serena from the match.
“Serena asked her coach about Meghan coming when she won last night and everyone is worried, as tennis players are very superstitious, and Serena lost when Meghan came to watch her at Wimbledon,” a source told Page Six.
“[Williams’ coach] Patrick keeps telling her, ‘Focus focus focus.’ The aim is getting her to win her 24th Grand Slam.”
