Last week George Clooney came to Meghan Markle’s defence and said, like Princess Diana she is being ‘vilified’ and ‘chased in the same way’ and that ‘history was repeating itself’, but is he right?
According to royal experts there is a difference between the two women.
“There is a huge difference between Diana and Meghan,” royal expert Marlene Koenig told The Express.
“Diana encouraged, indeed cultivated the press, used them, while complaining about the intrusion.”
She added that the main issue with Diana was he Paparazzi which Meghan is well rehearsed in dealing with.
“The hounding of media is verbal. The royals go out all the time, but these days are less likely to be photographed, certainly by the UK media, because the papers won’t publish the photos.”
Also Marlene notes that the Meghan is vilified by the press in a different way to Diana.
“The British press has vilified Meghan since the engagement with racist and nasty remarks whereas the Duchess of Cambridge, the English rose, is perfect,” she added.
Marlene also cited Meghan’s father Thomas as being the main issue.
“The worst of course is the feeding frenzy that the tabs and TV have created by paying Thomas Markle for his comments,” she said.
“The best thing to do is cut off the oxygen. The Duchess of Sussex is 7 months pregnant – and basically every article attacks her. It has to stop.”
