Self-confessed dog nerd Ryan Anderson throws his hat – and heart – in the ring as he makes a play for Angie Kent on The Bachelorette on Wednesday night, as the 32-year-old enters the mansion as an intruder.

In a further twist of the knife, it turns out that Ryan already knows Angie, much to the annoyance of the other boys…
As it turns out, rescue dog advocate Ryan once almost asked Angie on a date in the outside world.
“It started as common interest in the rescue-dog scene,” Ryan told a local publication.
“We followed each other on Instagram and there was some banter,” he added.
“I’m an ambassador for an assistance dog charity and they had their gala ball coming up. I planned to ask her to the ball, but in the interim, she announced that she was the new Bachelorette.”
And so here he is, about to enter the mansion to make his play on TV instead!
And Ryan really will be playing with all his heart, as he opened up about a health condition he’s dealing with during an interview with The Daily Telegraph ahead of his appearance on the show.
Speaking to the publication he revealed he has extensive chest scarring from operations due to his Tetralogy of Fallot – a heart valve defect.
The rescue dog advocate told the paper: “It is a conversation starter!” but admits he was once embarrassed by his scars.
“When I was younger I was self-conscious about it but now I own it. I usually tell people I got it from a lawn bowls accident to try and break the ice,” Ryan said.
Adding that it’s a “serious condition” and he will need more surgery every 10 to 15 years.
However, he says he is “fighting fit” and suffers from no health issues as a result of his condition.
It’s well known that Angie is a huge dog lover, so Ryan’s appearance on The Bachelorette is sure to ruffle a few feathers amongst the guys.
And perhaps Ryan could be ‘the one’ Angie has been looking for.
