An Australian schoolgirl, who became a mum to a little boy with Down syndrome at the age of 17, has celebrated after passing her HSC.
Brodee gave birth to baby Elijah in October, after falling pregnant aged 16.
She went on to finish Year 12 before her adorable little boy was born, weighing just 2.63 kilos.
Now Brodee, who shares her journey on her own Facebook page, has shared her joy after receiving her HSC certificate in the post.
‘So as you all know I graduated year 12 at 35 weeks pregnant and Elijah entered the world at 38+3 weeks,’ Brodee told her thousands of followers.
‘People told me to give up and leave school because they felt ‘disgusted to see a young girl pregnant walking around there school’.
‘I left school for about 2 months. Too scared to go back, Mum didn’t blame me but was hurt I wasn’t going,’ the young mum admitted.
‘I finally went back after the school rang and spoke about a program they have where I don’t have to be in my classroom at all! I went back and finished the last two months and graduated.
‘Now with Elijah being in Sydney hospital, 2-3 hours from home, I didn’t get to sit my hsc so the school offered to use my half yearly marks which I was l so thankful for….’
Brodee went on to share a photo of herself holding her HSC certificate.
‘Fast forward to 3 months later and this was handed to me by the postman! I did it, I didn’t listen to the haters only the people who mean the most to me and knew I could do it,’ she wrote.
‘So for them people and all you lovely people on this page sending me support, Thankyou! Xx’
