It’s been eight years since she appeared on The Biggest Loser, and despite her amazing weight loss Alison Braun still has her struggles.
Writing an honest open letter to her Facebook fans Braun revealed she had surgery to have her breast implants removed.
‘Unfortunately I had the recalled French PIP implants that were called “toxic” so the time came to remove them. I have put this surgery off for 4 years out of fear,’ she wrote.
She added: ‘Today I was consumed with fear beyond words, my fear had nothing to do what I might look like, the fear was that I’m consciously having someone put me to sleep and I may not wake up.’
Braun explains she is the only parent her three children have left, and the fear of leaving them ‘for the sake of just boobs’ consumed her.
Thankfully, she came out the other side.
Braun said that despite her massive weight loss while appearing on the show, she still has her ‘ups and downs’ about the way she looked.
One year after the show ended, she decided to have surgery to ‘fix’ her breasts.
‘Basically after breast feeding three children and losing nearly 60kg they were just little sacks of skin with a nipple and no matter how much I trained or ate right they were never going to get better,’ she wrote.
‘I was humiliated and embarrassed with the way I looked and didn’t feel like a woman. So I made the choice to fix it.’
While the last two weeks have been a struggle, Braun says she feels ‘blessed to have friends that have loved me and cared for me.’
‘It’s little moments like this that highlight what is important in life. I’m the richest woman in the world, rich with love.’
