The $1.50 miracle that cleans absolutely everything

Who knew vinegar could clean these? Genius!

Clean keyboards

Your computer keyboards are easy to get dirty and hard to clean but vinegar can help keep that keyboard sparkling. Soak a cloth in equal parts vinegar and warm water and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible so you don’t get any on the circuits inside. Make sure your computer is switched off and wipe that dirt away. Use a cotton bud dipped into the solution to get in and around the keys. A similar method can clean keyboards of another kind; piano keys will benefit from a similar treatment.

Brand new blinds

Get your window blinds sparkling white with a simple vinegar solution. A cotton glove dipped in a mix of vinegar and warm water is a great way to get in between blinds and get them looking great without damaging them. Make sure you rinse the glove often and squeeze out any excess moisture.

Clean machine

We put a lot of dirty laundry through our washing machines so it’s advisable to give them a clean once in a while. Just add a couple of cups of vinegar into your machine and give it a full cycle (without laundry or detergent) and it will be gleaming by the end. Vinegar can also be useful during you regular wash cycle too; a single cup will help disinfect, deodorise and keep your washing soft.

Brilliant brickwork

Does your outdoor brickwork and paving need a spruce? A simple mix of vinegar and warm water and a bit of elbow grease will get them looking great in no time. Perhaps your fireplace looking a bit dusty and worse for wear? The same method applies, giving great results.

Shower power

The minerals in our water supply can build up in high flow items like shower heads and it pays to clean them every now and again to keep the nozzles clear of gunk. If your shower head can be removed, simply soak it in a mix of a couple of litres of very hot water and a couple of cups of vinegar. After ten minutes your shower head should be as good as new.

Scorch-free iron

Irons will also benefit from having some vinegar and water run through them to freshen them up. Always follow with a couple of rinses of fresh water to remove any trace of the vinegar. Got scorch marks on the iron? Some white vinegar and a cloth will see to that.
