With a washboard flat stomach and sculpted thighs to die for Belinda Norton is fitter in her forties than she ever has been.
Not that it’s been an easy ride. The PE teacher, who has spent her whole life striving to be fit has only recently got the body she’s always dreamt of.
Incredibly it came after a complete overhaul of her lifestyle, and doing less exercise than before!
Now the Gold Coast mum-of-two has shared some fitness tips and metabolism-boosting tricks with New Idea to help shed those extra kilos in the run up to the Christmas party season.

Get moving in the morning
“Speed or fast walk every morning before work,” she says. “Wake up earlier and get moving fast.” With lighter mornings and only five weeks to Christmas there’s no excuses and plenty of time to get party-ready.

Train on the go
“Ensure you move in your lunch break and avoid the lunchtime social scroll,” she tells New Idea. “Think, ‘the more I move, the fresher I’ll feel’.”
Belinda says that incidental training sessions are an easy lifestyle change that can provide a huge health improvement and weight loss difference.
“Try it for 4 weeks daily and you’ll be astounded,” says the 41-year old.

Slap on some moisturiser
Now this is one everyone can manage! Belinda suggests massaging your legs nightly with high quality moisturising cream.
“Our skin dries quickly at this time of year and when we add extra moisture and a strong self-massage after our shower, the legs flush,” she says.
It means sculpting your own leaner legs ready for any dress or heels!

Put a spring in your step
Belinda suggests adding a plyometric, or jump training session to your day.
“Some backwards running and walking, speed jumps, running burst, lunges, step-ups and single leg stabilizer jumps,” she says.
These kinds of exercises, where muscles exert maximum force over short intervals, help you increase power.

Get hydrated
“The simplest and most effective way to raise your metabolic rate is by drinking water and staying hydrated,” she says.
Your metabolism actually slows down when you’re dehydrated, making you sluggish and less able to to use fats as fuel.
“Remember your body cannot distinguish between hunger and thirst and most of the time we are just thirsty,” she says. So hydrate to speed up your metabolic rate’.
