It was two years before Wiggles Lachy Gillespie and Emma Watkins were ready to reveal to the world they were dating. Now, months after their wedding they have revealed why they waited so long to share the news.
Speaking to Kate Waterhouse for Date With Kate, Gillespie said they didn’t want people thinking it was a publicity stunt.
‘There is nothing worse if you’ve only just started in a world-class organisation such as the Wiggles and then all of a sudden we come out that we are together.’ he said.
Emma added they also came public with their romance in 2015 because it was ‘getting to the point where we were like, “we want to share it”.’
‘But at that time, I didn’t know that Lachy had planned to propose, so our relationship was announced, and then, about a month and a half later, our engagement.’
