The Today Show’s sports reporter Tim Gilbert was hospitalised on Wednesday to undergo surgery for kidney stones.
Taking to Twitter, the veteran journalist shared the news.
‘To all those that have suffered from kidney stones, I feel your pain. Thanks to everyone at Prince of Wales [Hospital], what an amazing job you do, and to all my Today show family. [Karl], Georgie and the gang, you are beautiful people, thanks for your support,’ he tweeted.
On Thursday morning’s show, Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner addressed Gilbert’s absence.
‘You may have noticed Timmy is not with us today. He is off sick,’ Karl explained.
‘He had an operation yesterday, I think he won’t mind me saying, that was very successful. And he’ll be back on his feet very, very soon.’
Georgie added: ‘We wish you a speedy recovery, Tim Gilbert.’
