WATCH: First look at The Amazing Race Australia hosted by Beau Ryan
The Amazing Race Australia will premiere on Monday, October 28 at 7:30 am on Network 10 and WIN Network.
Hosted by NRL larrikin Beau Ryan, the show will see eleven teams of pairs travelling across countries in a race to win the top prize of $250,000.
The contestants – who are made up of housemates, colleagues and even nuns – will follow clues and route markers that lead them to a Pit Stop that will stand as a finish point for individual legs of the race.
What’s more, if a team is the last to arrive at a Pit Stop, it is likely they will be either eliminated room The Amazing Race or face a penalty.
At the beginning of each leg, teams are provided with “leg money,” which is a set amount that can be used to pay for transport, accommodation, food and any other costs incurred on the way to their next stop.
Interestingly, if a team uses all their leg money, they will have no choice but to try and (lawfully) earn the money.
This includes busking, begging and occasionally selling items they’ve purchased during their travels.
The adventure-fueled show will see teams making their way across three continents in cable cars, paddle boats, helicopters, taxis, planes, trains, automobiles and even camels.
Studio 10 reported that almost 300 flights and more than 270 taxis were taken throughout the season.
Making it to each Pit Stop won’t be easy, as there is a series of challenges teams will have to complete along the way.
While the challenges will differ in style, Studio 10 reports that they’ll often involve either:
A detour (two tasks that each team must delegate to it’s members);
A U-Turn (when the leading team can send back another team to complete their second Detour task);
A roadblock (when one team member must complete a challenged based on a small clue);
A fast-forward (the option to head directly to a Pit Stop – but only one team can complete it);
A speed bump (a challenge for a team who arrived last but wasn’t eliminated so they can be handed their first clue).
With all this in mind, it sounds like viewers are in for an exciting season of The Amazing Race Australia.
