But the former Footy Show larrikin has now revealed his new hosting role on The Amazing Race Australia provided a fresh start to his relationship with wife Kara.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the 34-year-old spoke candidly about having to rebuild his relationship following the scandal, and how the show played a role in that.

“Where I am right now, compared to where I was five or 10 years ago, I’m a different person,” Ryan said.

He went on to say while some wives may have been skeptical about allowing their husband to take time away from the parental unit, Kara has always had his back.

“I’ve learned a lot in my life and been in this industry for a while. We’ve had our ups and downs but my wife has been there the whole time,” he confessed.

Beau said if anyone had reason to doubt him it was Kara, but looking back on the experience, he firmly believes their relationship is much “stronger for it”.

Despite the vote of confidence from Kara, the 34-year-old admitted that being away from her and the children was something that he never got used to.

He said prior to going on the six-week stint to film the show, the longest he had been away from his family was two weeks.

At one point during filming, Beau even considered flying Kara, daughter Remi, 6, and son Jesse, 2, to join him, but he has since admitted logistically that wasn’t possible.

Fortunately, the TV presenter said one of the major benefits of doing the show was that it has opened his eyes to the endless travel opportunities for him and his family.

“I would never have gone to some of the places we went to, especially in Africa, ever. But now I want to take my wife and children there,” he said.
