Sarah Ferguson is the Duchess of York and mother to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, but since she married into the British royal family in July of 1986, she’s been hiding a deep secret.
She might have since parted ways with her husband Prince Andrew, Duke of York and adopted a functional, more philanthropic role for her work as Duchess, but Sarah’s true feelings about the Queen have laid dormant until recently.
In an interview with radio hosts Kylie Sandilands and Jackie O, the Duchess revealed that since she first met Queen Elizabeth and every instalment spent around her since, she has felt nervous.
When the pair asked the charismatic 57-year-old who she gets tongue-tied by, her response didn’t take long.
“I always get nervous before meeting the boss,” she quipped, referring to the Queen, her former mother-in-law.
“But does she make you feel at ease and comfortable in her presence?” Jackie asked.
“Oh of course, she’s brilliant,” Sarah responded. “She makes you feel comfortable in the first five seconds.”
There’s no telling whether her daughters, who’re cousins to Princes William and Harry and granddaughters to the Queen feel the same, but if public outings are anything to go by, it’s doubtful.
