Reports this morning have confirmed that Rosie O’Donnell’s ex-wife Michelle Rounds has died of an apparent suicide.
With TMZ first reporting the tragic news, sources told the site that 46-year-old Rounds was found dead on Monday.
Her sudden death tragically fell on the first day of National Suicide Prevention Week in America.
Rosie’s rep released a statement confirming her devastation at the news.
“I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife Krista and their child.”
The television star started dating Rounds in 2011, with the pair marrying just one year later.
However, Rosie filed for divorce in early 2015 citing an “irretrievably broken relationship.”
The former couple adopted a daughter, now 4-year-old Dakota, shortly after they were married.
Rounds previously attempted suicide in September of 2015, with a friend having security at the hotel her ex was staying at kick down the door to prevent her from taking her own life.
