Dismissed Bachelorette Olena has confessed that viewers didn’t get the whole story when they saw her exit from The Bachelor last night. And if you thought her manner indicated she couldn’t be happier to be out, it seems you are very, very right.
With The Bachelor franchise consistently the subject of allegations that female contestants’ rejections of the various bachelors are often edited out, in order to make it seem like the blokes are always super-desirable, Olena is doing nothing to destroy that impression. In fact she says her blunt statement that she didn’t love Richie was binned by producers.
‘I couldn’t say “I love you.” I could not say those words,’ she revealed in an interview with WHO magazine. ‘So I didn’t want to lie to him. I told him, actually, when we were on that couch in Bali, that I was sorry but I couldn’t say the words “I love you.”
‘I told him: I don’t love you. It’s a shame they didn’t show that, too, because I wanted you to see his reaction. He ran really fast. He ran away from me, yeah!’
Lots of viewers are saying that despite the editing, it was impossible to hide the fact that Olena just did not want a piece of the TV hunk. And she now admits she wanted a rose from him like she wanted a case of the flu.
‘I wanted to go home,’ she told WHO.
Pointing out the absurdity of the show’s premise she added, ‘I’d only seen the guy like five times. How can you fall in love with someone that you’ve seen five times in, what, three months? How crazy is that? No way.’
