The stars of Married At First Sight are breaking their confidentiality agreements to speak out about the “bullying” that went on during the filming of the show.
Susan revealed that the ‘villain’ of the season, Anthony is afraid to leave the house due to people harassing him in the street.
“Anthony doesn’t go out of the house. He’s been threatened so many times from drunk people at the racetrack from the way he’s being portrayed and they [the producers] don’t even care,” she told news.com.au.
“He texted me this morning, saying: ‘Good on you… you just said what we all want to say and we’re all too scared to say it. We’re all too scared.’”
Susan confessed that she has copped major backlash from the Australian public since the show aired as people have accused her of breaking cowboy Sean’s heart and “stringing him along”.
“I said [to the producers], ‘Why do you need to do that? Why couldn’t you tell the truth? And they’re like, ‘Don’t worry about it, you’re both portrayed lovely don’t worry about it,’ to shut me up,” she said.
“They must know that people are hating me,” she said. “It hurts to hear that s**t. It hurts to read peoples’ opinions that aren’t true. I know I shouldn’t care but I do.”
The relative of another contestant told news.com.au described watching the way their loved one was portrayed on the show as “horrific”.
“It’s the worst thing you could see [a family member] go through,” they said.
Susan expressed concern for her fellow contestants and any future participants of the show.
“What happens when they have someone on one of these shows that is really affected by this in a really bad way … What would happen then?” She said.
