Drowning their sorrows.

Bella (Courtney Miller) is still doing everything she can − including feigning illness – to keep her adored brother Colby (Tim Franklin) away from Mackenzie (Emily Weir).

“Bella has been throwing so much hatred at Mackenzie,” says Emily. “It’s been shocking for Mackenzie that Bella is so deeply against her and Colby being together.”

And Bella’s ploy is certainly paying dividends, as it seems Mackenzie and Colby have hit pause on their relationship – and possibly for good this time.

Heartbroken, Mackenzie now finds herself drowning her sorrows at Salt. Needless to say, the usually responsible restaurateur is horrified when, having unintentionally crashed at Salt for the night, she’s woken up the next morning by a concerned Willow (Sarah Roberts), Alex (Zoë Ventoura) and John (Shane Withington)!

“Mackenzie is mortified,” says Emily. “To be caught out like this is completely out of character and very embarrassing for her. It’s also a realisation that she needs to get her confidence back. The break-up has really rocked her.”

Certainly, Mackenzie can well understand what her brother Dean is going through when, later in the week, she discovers he, too, is dealing with relationship dramas.

Since they first gave into their feelings several months back, Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) romance has gone from strength to strength, overcoming a few inevitable hiccups along the relationship way.

But everything is set to change! In a shock development, Dean breaks up with Ziggy, leaving the young mechanic reeling.

As the emotion-charged week gets underway, Ziggy is under the impression that she did not land the job at the racetrack – a gig that would take her away from Dean.

And we see that Ziggy’s feelings are mixed. For while she is deeply disappointed at missing out on what was surely a life-changing opportunity, her heart is with the guy she loves in the Bay.

“Ziggy realises when she didn’t get the job that she really wanted it,” says Sophie.

“But at the same time, I think when you have a partner you might lose because of a job, there is also that sense of relief as you don’t have to say goodbye to them.”

Is this the end for the couple, or can they find a way to make their relationship work?
