Dr Chris Brown ‘ready to settle down’

Sparks fly for the new couple.

He is one of the country’s most eligible bachelors, but until now long-term love has eluded the famous vet. But it finally seems Dr Chris Brown is ready to settle down with new girlfriend Liv Phyland.

A friend close to the couple tells New Idea the TV star is reportedly ‘smitten’ with Liv, who presents The Loop on Channel Ten.

“Chris and Liv have been friends for ages but until now they’ve never been single at the same time,” reveals the insider.

“Finally, they’re both ready to give it a go and although they say they’re taking things slowly, it’s obvious to everyone that they’re perfect for each other.”

Chris split from long-term girlfriend TV producer Kendall Bora in September while Liv’s relationship with actor Nick Slater ended earlier this year.

Last week, Chris and Liv – who live close to each other near Sydney’s eastern suburbs beaches – were spotted together on the NSW Central Coast.

An onlooker noted their car was packed with surfing gear and it “looked like they were headed off for a weekend away”.

“It was just the two of them, there were no TV crews … they weren’t working, they were completely casually dressed. They ordered some takeaway food and he walked out first and she followed shortly after,” the onlooker explains to New Idea.

“They both looked so tired, pretty exhausted. They look like they had a big night but they just stopped in for a ‘roadie’.

“He just strolled out with his head down, strolling to the car and she caught up with him and joined him at the car, a white Range Rover, and jumped in. You could see their surfboards packed in through the front window and off they went. They were trying to keep things quiet, trying to get away from everyone and enjoy their weekend together.”

Both television presenters are passionate surfers with Liv, 28, frequently hitting the waves at Bondi near Chris’ former home, before he moved to his $5.8 million Clovelly mansion three beaches away. And when Liv appeared on The Living Room in July and took part in a terrifying underwater helicopter stunt, their chemistry was obvious to the production team.

Chris, who is famously tight-lipped about his private life, joked in September about being, “40, single [and] with no children”.

In October he attended Liv’s birthday celebrations, and then the couple were spotted looking cosy together at a Network Ten event.

“Everyone at Ten has been wondering for a while when and if Chris and Liv will get together – they’ve got so much in common and they really click,” adds the source.

“They’re trying to keep their relationship under wraps for now, so a trip up the coast was a good excuse to spend some quality time together away from the Bondi scene.”
