They have been married for over 32 years, share a life and raised three now adult boys (Jacob, 26, Xavier, 24 and Oliver, 21), but that didn’t stop The Block favourites Carleen and Dan from breaking hearts around the country.
The couple have confirmed that after their time on the hit TV show, they have split and are living completely separate lives in Western Australia.
In a recent interview with a leading lifestyle publication, the pair revealed they’re now living completely different lives with Carleen having settled in Perth, while Dan moved hours away, down the WA coast.
“I still have commitments in Perth. Dan has two brothers who live down there and he decided he wanted to work there,” Carleen, 55, said.
Only days before this news was revealed, however, the couple had gushed over each other on their sit-down interview with The Block, appearing as close as ever.
“He’s a pleasure to live with and share my life with,” said Carleen, the hairdresser. “He’s always supported every decision I’ve made.”
Carleen’s kind words brought tears to Dan’s eyes, which fans have indicate might’ve suggested the couple knew the news to be revealed.
Despite the emotional outpouring and the show wrapping-up, Dan confessed that the couple’s businesses have suffered in recent times, but they were striving to maintaining their lives for themselves and their three sons.
“We’re actually going broke doing this… The biggest challenge has been trying to get continual work and giving the boys a good education,” they said. “You push yourself to give your kids a better life.”
“I’m just proud of the fact we’re still alive,” Carleen joked.
