She’s remained tight-lipped over her relationship status with last year’s Bachelor Richie, but now the truth is out there.
New Idea can exclusively reveal that Alex has ended her relationship with Richie and embarked on a new affair with Maegan Luxa, a 31-year-old chef and landscaper from Melbourne.
The loved-up couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other as they were snapped around Melbourne last week, showering each other with kisses and enjoying the honeymoon period of their budding romance.
One of Alex’s best friends, who has asked to remain anonymous, spills to New Idea about Alex and Maegan’s relationship.
‘Alex has found love in the arms of a woman,’ the friend reveals. ‘It started a month ago with Maegan. They play footy together for the Frankston Bombers and Alex started to have feelings. As it turned out, those feelings were mutual.
Over the past few weeks, the 25-year-old single mum and Maegan have grown incredibly close, but Alex is shying away from a ‘gay’ label.
‘They are now inseparable, spending very few nights apart, but it was all a bit of a shock,’ the friend confides. ‘Up until this point Alex had only ever had relationships with men.
‘Right now she is not giving this or herself any sort of label such as being gay or bisexual. She does not see the need to categorise it that way.’
But what does Richie think of Alex’s lady love? According to Alex’s friend, Richie is yet to learn of the new relationship.
‘Richie knows nothing at all about this,’ Alex’s close friend admits. ‘Right now, confronting him with this news seems way too difficult and the last thing she wants to do is hurt Richie. She still treasures the time they spent together.’
With Richie in the dark, Alex is choosing to centre her attention on her blossoming new relationship.
‘Her focus – and heart – is with her new love, Maegan. She accepts that Australia might find this hard to understand. But she needs to do what is right for her, not everyone else,’ her friend explains.
‘Alex would not change the past, but she does realise her real love is not Richie – it is Maegan.’
