The Royal family are known to follow a strict set of protocols, but it has been revealed that The Queen actually thinks they are “rubbish.”
And, she wasn’t afraid to let the then US First Lady, Michelle Obama know it!
Yep, speaking to author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Michelle recalled the moment that she met The Queen during a presidential visit with her husband.
Michelle shared how nerve-wracking the moment was.

“I had all this protocol buzzing in my head and I was like ‘don’t trip down the stairs and don’t touch anybody, whatever you do,’” she said.
“The Queen says ‘just get in, sit wherever’ and she’s telling you one thing and you’re remembering protocol and she says ‘Oh it’s all rubbish, just get in’.”
The Queens shocking revelation occurred after the couple disembarked their helicopter and were driven to the castle by Prince Philip.
Michelle also opened up about bonding with the monarch in her autobiography, ‘Becoming’.

During a state dinner back in 2009, Michelle was sporting a pair of painful shoes and like women everywhere, The Queen sympathised.
“The Queen glanced down at the pair of black Jimmy Choos I was wearing. She shook her head: ‘These shoes are unpleasant, are they not?’” Michelle writes of the moment.
“Forget that she sometimes wore a diamond crown and that I’d flown to London on the presidential jet, we were just two tired ladies oppressed by our shoes.”
