Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first public appearance together at the opening of the Invictus Games in Toronto today.
While the pair, who have been dating since June last year, were not seated together at the Air Canada Centre, Meghan was sat just a few feet away from the British royal, who was accompanied by US First Lady Melania Trump.
Meghan herself was sat with long-time friend Markus Anderson, who reportedly introduced the couple just over a year ago.
Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to raise awareness about the challenges wounded service members face and allow them to compete internationally against other soldiers with whom they served.
“Invictus is about the dedication of the men and women who served their countries, confronted hardship, and refused to be defined by their injuries,” he said during the opening ceremony. “I hope you’re ready to see courage and determination that will inspire you to power through the challenges in your own life.”
Meghan’s lowkey appearance at the Games marks the first time she has joined the Royal for an official event and will intensify speculation that an engagement announcement is imminent.
