With hundreds of fans turning out to greet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it came as a little surprise that their 4-month-old son Archie Harrison missed their first Royal engagement in Cape Town.

While visiting the District Six Museum, first-time mum Meghan revealed the sweet reason Archie wasn’t in attendance when South African woman Somaya Ebrahim asked the Duchess where her son was.

“He’s sleeping,” revealed the former Suits actress.

On Monday September 23, Mehgan and Harry commenced their Royal tour, arriving by a commercial flight which landed at Cape Town International Airport.

The Sussexes landed almost 40 minutes late after their British Airways flight was delayed leaving the UK. The couple disembarked privately.

The couple visited a township where they saw an initiative which teaches children about their rights, self-awareness and safety, and provides self-defence classes and female empowerment training to young girls.

During the event, Meghan – who is a champion of gender equality – added her voice to the thousands who have spoken out about the rising violence against women in South Africa.

Harry and Meghan arrived laden with gifts for the nation’s children from presents originally donated to their son Archie.

They will give clothes, books and other items to an Africa-based charity that trains and employs women living with HIV as community health workers.
