Perth-based House Rules contestant David reveals that now the show has finished, he’ll struggle going back to his usual job as a fly-in, fly-out worker.
‘He probably will have to go back again because the money in Perth is crap and we need to get ahead,’ his wife Chiara sighs, admitting the pair still have a lot of debt to pay off after David was made redundant.
But having him go back to the FIFO work doesn’t appeal to Chiara. ‘We’ve spent so much time together now that I can’t think about him going away,’ she says.

And David isn’t too happy about his job situation either.
‘It breaks my heart to think about going away,’ he laments.
‘I don’t want to leave her.’

David admits he got used to seeing Chiara every day and they both got to know a lot more about each other, especially not having the children around.
‘Doing [the show] and being there for each other without the children, I love my kids dearly, but it’s been nice to have some time with him,’ Chiara adds.
