'They worked as air bags'

Sharon Heinrich and Helen Salter were cycling on the Riesling Trail in South Australia last Wednesday when a violent kangaroo sprang from a ledge, knocking them both to the ground.

‘Just out of the corner of my eye I’ve seen this kangaroo up on this ledge,’ Sharon explained. ‘I thought “he’s cute” and then he jumped on top of me and used me to launch off and on to my girlfriend. ‘We flew probably one-and-a-half metres after he hit us’.

While Helen was left with a concussion, Sharon suffered cracked ribs and internal injuries and will undergo surgery this week to replace one of her breast implants.

However it’s not all bad news – Sharon says that were it not for surgically enhanced chest, the wayward Skippy may have caused a lot more damage.

‘They worked as air bags,’ she explained. Even my doctor said how I’ve come out of this is just incredible.’
