It’s been a tumultuous week for Channel Nine.

First, the network announced Peter Stefanovic would be walking away from his roles at Nine.

News was later confirmed that Pete’s older brother and host of the Today Show, Karl Stefanovic, would be stepping down from his role.

Now, it seems Richard Wilkins has also been replaced on the Channel Nine breakfast program also.

Nine’s news director Darren Wick has confirmed triple J newsreader and proud Indigenous woman Brooke Boney will join Today as the show’s new entertainment correspondent, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Boney will work closely with Richard Wilkins in the Today family, with Wick confirming that Wilkins will remain the entertainment editor at Nine but will have a greater role on the second-tier Today Extra show with David Campbell and Sonia Kruger, which airs after 9am.

“I’m really thrilled to be joining the team and so excited to be working alongside Richard Wilkins. He’s such a legend in the business,” Boney, 31, said on Friday to SMH.

“It’s such an exciting time to be joining Nine and am looking forward to learn from everyone on the Today team. As a young girl growing up in the country I watched Today so it’s really awesome to know it’ll be my new home.”

Richard Wilkins is yet to comment.
