NBC News has fired one of the highest-paid figures in TV industry, Today Show host Matt Lauer, after receiving a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behaviour.
Mr Lauer’s co-host Savannah Guthrie announced the news on Wednesday’s show, just a week after CBS News fired Charlie Rose after complaints from several women who worked for him.
NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack said the network had received a complaint from a colleague on Monday night, but gave no details of the alleged misconduct.
A review determined it was a clear violation of company standards, he said.
Described as the ‘king of television morning news’, this is the first complaint against Lauer.
Lauer, 59, hosted Today for two decades and is married with three children.

Lauer joined Today in 1994 and has interviewed the likes of George Bush, Barack Obama and many Hollywood heavyweights. Lauer has even broadcasted from seven Olympic games.
Lauer has not yet responded to the allegations.
