Spring-time hits Sydney

It was a star studded affair at the Myer Spring Summer launch.

While the winter rain continued outside on Tuesday night, inside the Hordern Pavilion, Myer introduced us to the beautiful world of Spring/Summer 2016.

300 of Australia’s leading fashion identities and celebrities including Myer Ambassadors Rachael Finch, Jennifer Hawkins, Jodi Anasta (Gordon), Kris Smith and Lauren Phillips entered on the “white carpet”, each wearing a piece from the designers who would be later showcasing their collections in the nights show.

We caught up with mum-to-be Rachel Finch to get the scoop on her new baby bump and the advice her husband gives her when she’s choosing her daily outfits.

We hear that you are expecting, how will you be dressing for your bump this spring?

The Bohemian look with the elasticated off shoulder design is still very much in this season, so I will be wearing a lot of that. Anything soft and flowing and comfortable will be what I look for.

We would love to know, does your hubby or your daughter ever give you fashion advice?

My husband definitely gives me fashion advice. He says yay or nay to everything. Whether I need to change a colour or a style (“or the hair” – hubby adds). He has great fashion sense because twenty yeas experience competing professionally in the dancing arena, he’s very clued in with fashion and hair and makeup, even more than me sometimes.

If you had one outfit that you couldn’t live without what would that be? What is your go-to for a casual Sunday?

I would say at the moment, a pair of ripped denim boy jeans, I like the slouchy-ones, matched with a cute singlet or tee and loafers. Simple, but easy.

When it was time to get down to business, international guest model, Fernanda Ly stepped out onto the catwalk followed by our very own Jennifer Hawkins stunning the audience in a breathtaking Maticveski gown.

The upcoming Spring Summer trends will include floral, monochromatic and pastels as brands such as Alex Perry, Cue, Georgia Alice and Sass & Bide graced the catwalk. Our favourite moment was the floral punch provided by models in iconic fashion label Oscar de la Renta which left us forgetting about the rainy winter evening and wanting for warm Spring days.
