Expert beauty tips to get your holiday started right!

The holidays are here which means travel to exotic (or not so) destinations. We’re mad for travel – our skin though, not so much.

But there are ways to ensure that flights (be they long – hello Abu Dhabi – or short – hey there Bris Vegas) don’t damage your skin and that you hit your destination looking 100 per cent fresh-faced and genuinely lovely.

Beauty guru Zoe Foster Blake, creator of the Go-To skincare line and author of Amazinger Face (Penguin) says when your plane is roughly 20 minutes from landing it’s time to hot-foot it to the bathroom and do the following:

Splash your face with water and then gently dry it off.

Massage in a little face oil and / or face cream.

Next, apply some BB or CC cream for coverage and also glow.

Dab a little cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks (that’s the highest point when you smile okay?).

Use a little concealer under the eyes and around the nose. The creamy versions will work best at this point.

Drop two eye drops into each eye. Blink! Like really blink! Blink again!

Apply shiny, shiny, shiny lip gloss. “This will attract attention away from your bleary eyes,” says Zoe.

Add deodorant.

Now you are good to go. All you need is a little celebrity chutzpah.

You’ll find that in a pair of oversized dark glasses. Slide those babies on and ASAP.

If you have a scarf now’s the time to toss that casually over one shoulder too. Comfortable clothes are the way to go, but if you’re meeting someone at the airport slip into those high, high heels you brought along.

Sashay your way through the airport and keep your eyes low. You’re a superstar baby! Or, you look the part anyway and that’s what counts.
