Forget those expensive cleaners; bicarb, or baking soda is the only product you need in your cleaning cupboard. Okay, maybe some vinegar too. Here’s why it’s the wonder cleaner
Spots off Pots
Got a casserole dish with a baked-on spot that just won’t come off? Have you tried all the commercial products in the supermarket? Grab a trusty box of bicarb and cover the dish in it for five minutes, scrub off with a damp sponge and rinse. Stubborn spot begone!
Smell of Success
No matter what you do, changing the bin bag is always a damp and stinky exercise. Before replacing the bag, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda in the bottom. This will absorb moisture and odours and make changing the bag a lot more pleasant.
Plastic Fantastic
Are your plastic containers looking a little stained? Refresh them by soaking overnight in a mix warm water and baking soda. Rinse with vinegar and then again with water. Voila! Your Tupperware looks new.
China Crisis
To get rid of tea stains, or heaven forbid, cigarette burns on your fine china just reach for a damp cloth and dip it in some bicarb. Rub the stain gently and, pretty soon, your crockery will be spotless. This method can also be used to polish silverware with great results.
Oven Lovin’
Forget those expensive and noxious oven cleaners, there’s a cheaper and easier way to deal with a dirty oven. Make a paste from bicarb soda and water, coat the walls of your still warm oven with the paste and then spray with vinegar in a spray bottle. Leave the mixture sit for an hour and then you’ll be able to easily remove all the built-up grease and grime.
