Last night’s episode of The Block was one filled with joy as the contestants and fans showed up for the open inspection. The tensions and spats that filled the season seemed to be long gone and replaced by praise and well-wishes.
That was until the final minutes of the episode.
Clint and Hannah called an emergency body corporate meeting that had everyone confused. Seeing as the houses were complete, other other contestants were left wondering what the meeting could be about.
It turned out at poor Clint and Hannah, who have not had the best luck on the series, suffered one final blow.
The spa they installed in the back yard had blown up and the couple needed full permission from the other contestants to make alterations. Reminding viewers of the showdown that took place way back at the beginning of the series when Georgia and Ronnie refused to give Josh and Elyse permission to begin early installation of their pool.
Georgia and Ronnie made a joke straight up, but were very quick to give Hannah and Clint permission to pull out their spa and fill in the deck.
Fan favourite Wombat said, ‘I don’t think anyone at this stage of the game should be trying to stop anyone from doing what they need to do.’
Josh and Elyse were also happy to give the couple the go-ahead.
In a move that shocked everyone, and delivered one of the most awkward moments on this season, Sarah and Jason spoke up and said, ‘We might say no, actually.’
The pair had smiles as they delivered their verdict, making it seem like they were joking, however it quickly became apparent that they weren’t.
Jason and Sarah explained that they felt the couple would be at an unfair advantage if they were able to remove the spa, and they also wanted to be the only house to have no water feature.
Eventually Jason felt bad enough to give them the ‘yes’ vote. He did warn that he’d be annoyed if they make more money than him and Sarah at auction though.
