The new season of The Amazing Race Australia 2019 is right around the corner, and the teams have finally been announced.

Chris and Adrienne – “Farmer and Firie”

Alpaca farmer Chris Williams and firefighter Adrienne Clarke have been together for 30 years, but it hasn’t slowed them down at all.
The adventure-hungry couple has the strong advantage of knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses intimately.
Adrienne enjoys the thrill of an obstacle course like Tough Mudder, whereas Chris has played Aussie rules and runs the nation’s third-largest alpaca herd, Ambersun Alpacas.
Chris told Studio 10 that there is no “worst part” of travelling with his partner.
“We have been travelling life’s highway for 30 years together, but I know she’ll mention my snoring has no escape.”
Adrienne – who joined Adelaide’s Metropolitan Fire Service in 1987 – told Confidential that she wants to be a role model for young women watching The Amazing Race.
“Many females do not even consider firefighting as a career for them. I would love to think I could help to change that perception, encouraging others to challenge their potential,” she said.
“Amazing Race challenges present the opportunity, showing some of the amazing skills you can acquire as a firefighter.”
Jasmin and Jerome – “Deadly Duo”

Jasmin and Jerome are a couple from Darwin (both aged thirty) who have known each other for ten years and share a two-year-old son named Jerome Jnr.
“Jerome is the best navigator, which is definitely not my strong point,” Jasmin told Studio 10, while Jerome said Jasmin’s strengths lie in organisation.
“Jasmin is extremely organised,” he said of the lawyer.
“She is very well planned and prepared. Sometimes the weight of her luggage can suggest she is too well prepared.

Wadjigan man Jerome is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead of him in the competition.
“I love doing extreme things like skydiving and bungee jumping,” he said, adding, “I think the eating challenges might be a weakness for me.”
By competing in The Amazing Race, the couple aims to challenge stereotypes and set a good example for young Indigenous Australians.
“Jerome and I have achieved a lot in our respective 30 years and we want to challenge the sometimes negative portrayal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,” Jasmin – who is a Bindal and Gunditjmara woman – told Studio 10.
Tim and Rod – “Newlyweds”

Tim and Rod tied the knot in March this year, and have decided to make The Amazing Race their second honeymoon.
The couple is more than prepared for the physical challenges of the competition, as they are both certified personal trainers.
“I thrive on adrenaline,” Tim told Studio 10, adding, “but would still be very scared if we needed to bungee jump or skydive.”
However, the 29-year-old conceded that the “gross eating challenges” are what he’s most nervous about.
According to Mumbrella, Tim and Rod hope to inspire young people struggling with their identity and challenge any negative perceptions of what it means to be gay.
The newlyweds are also believed to be bringing all the drama this season after they told The Daily Telegraph that they butted heads with another team.
“There was a bit of a personality clash with one of the teams, we just can’t stand cockiness and arrogance,” said Rod.
“That’s our pet hate,” the 28-year-old added.
Rowah and Amani – “Mum and Daughter”

Rowah and Amani are mother-daughter duo from Sydney and are of the fitter teams competing in The Amazing Race (in fact, Rowah owns three gyms).
“Nothing is more eye-opening than surrounding yourself with another culture that chooses to live their lives completely different to yours,” Amani – who is studying a Bachelor Fashion – said.
“Travel can give you the blank white sheet — the chance to start fresh and explore another side of your personality,” the 18-year-old continued.
“With travel comes challenges and the more challenges you take on, the more confident in yourself you become.”
Judy and Therese – “The Nuns”

Judy Bowe and Therese Mills are a pair of nuns from Canberra who claim to have a secret weapon on their side.
Mills believes the other teams on The Amazing Race “might be a bit threatened by us because we’ve got the Big Fella on our side.”
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the Missionaries of God’s Love Sisters have a “holy strategy” to win the competition and plan on using the money to continue their work win remote Australia and overseas.
They may be the most adventurous nuns Australia has ever seen.
Mills told 10 Daily that she was once chased by warriors in Papua New Guinea.
When it comes to advantages over the other teams, Bowes told the publication:
“I can pray for endurance, perseverance and courage when I don’t have any left.”

Viv and Joey – “Mighty Siblings”

Viv and Joey may not be six-foot-tall amazons, but they know the Channel 10 show inside out.
The siblings grew up watching The Amazing Race and believe that will be enough to get them through each Pit Stop.
When asked about his biggest weaknesses, Joey told 10 Daily that he is “super reliant on technology.”
“Having Google Maps tell me where to go or using Google Translate to communicate… having no technology is going to be a massive challenge,” he admitted.

Hayley and Mikayla – “Sisters”

These sisters will present some stiff competition for other contestants, as they claim to have been banned from their own family game nights.
However, Mikayla admits she is a “very bad flyer” which may put them at a disadvantage.
What’s more, Hayley is afraid of “escalators and snakes.”
“If there are snakes on an escalator… that would be my worst nightmare.”
Let’s hope she didn’t predict her own fate!
Tom and Tyler – “Footy Mates”

It’s safe to say that these two know each other well, having played together in both semi and professional AFL.
Tom and Tyler believe the power of teamwork is what will get them to the final Pit Stop.
“We have been born and raised to be competitive people throughout our football careers,” Tom told 10 Daily.
While the best friends are looking forward to the big adventure that is The Amazing Race, Tyler is concerned that Tom can be “incredibly cheap.”
“Often he pulls out his wallet and there is dust flying off it because he hasn’t opened it for days,” Tyler told the publication.
Sounds like their friendship could also be put to the test on their travels!
