Selena Gomez has reportedly checked back in to rehab as she continues to battle against depression and anxiety as a result of her Lupus disease.
US Weekly is reporting that the 24-year-old has been receiving treatment at a rehab facility in Tennessee since August 30th.
The treatment facility has been described as a ‘private and quiet place’ but it’s reportedly also a ‘super intense’ one. The magazine is also reporting that Selena has stopped working on new music with another source saying:
‘She was supposed to be recording, but she hasn’t told anyone when she’ll be back in studio.’
Late last month reports emerged she would be entering a facility, explaining that her two-month stay will reportedly involve intense therapy sessions and equine (horse) therapy and the source added that eventually, ‘Residents are allowed to leave as a group on occasion for day trips to the surrounding area.’ Which would explain how the star was seen out and about for dinner with family in Tennessee this week.
Selena confirmed her break to People earlier this year saying:
‘As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges. I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.’
At the time a source close to the star said she was not entering a facility, explaining her time off would not be to battle addiction.
The star underwent chemotherapy in secret in 2014, while tabloids reported she was in Meadows rehab for substance abuse. ‘I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about.’ she revealed to Billboard in 2015. ‘I could’ve had a stroke.’
As for those rumours she said:
‘I wanted so badly to say, “You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes. But I was angry I even felt the need to say that. It’s awful walking into a restaurant and having the whole room look at you, knowing what they’re saying. I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”‘
