Actress Rose McGowan has alleged she was raped by a top Hollywood executive – but says she was advised not to proceed against the man with a criminal complaint.
The star, who stopped short of naming the prominent figure, revealed how the assault has left a long shadow over her life.
‘A (female) criminal attorney said because I’d done a sex scene in a film I would never win against the studio head,’ she wrote, using the hashtag #WhyWomenDontReportRape
‘Because it’s been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist,’ she continued.
‘It is time for some goddamned honesty in this world.’
Rose’s statements follow similar comments by former child star Corey Feldman, who says an A-list Hollywood figure molested him as a child.
