Prince Harry in hot water with a 91-year old war veteran

He was 'told off' for not wearing a tie!

Not many people would dare insult a royal! But Prince Harry took it all in his stride when he got a telling off from wheelchair-bound D-Day veteran.

The Prince met 45 veterans at Southwick House near Portsmouth, where the Allied commanders planned the military action that charged the course of the Second World War.

Harry showed up to the event wearing a suit with no tie – and the World War II veterans noticed!

Wheelchair-bound Ivor Anderson, 91, jokingly asked Harry: ‘Where’s your bloody tie?’

The Prince, who is a qualified Apache Aircraft Commander in the Army, replied: ‘I was told not to wear a tie and then you all turn up wearing ties!’

‘I feel under-dressed,’ he added.

During the visit, the Prince also spent time meeting veterans including John Dennett, from Wirral, and Frank Diffell, from Wiltshire, who are also both 91.

He said to them: ‘I have so much respect for you guys – running off a boat on to those beaches.’

The Prince then wished them well on their trip to France for the commemorations and added: ‘Don’t get into trouble. And if you do, don’t get caught!’
