In the days before cricketer Phillip Hughes died, Michael Clarke said he would tell himself there was a hope for his teammate.
Visibly upset in a preview for an interview with 60 minutes, set to air on Sunday night, Clarke said: ‘I guess I probably tried to tell myself that there’s a chance he’d be okay.
‘But I think I knew there wasn’t.’
The preview also shows Clarke refusing to apologise for his younger self.
‘I have apologised enough’, he said, adding, ‘I haven’t done anything wrong. I just did it my way.’
Pictures of Clarke with Lara Bingle flashing across the video allude to an incident with the model.
‘I ended up hiding in the boot of my mates car and snuck out,’ the father-of-on said.
The couple made headlines in 2010 when they split after a two year engagement.
