In case you missed the big reveal last night, The Bachelor’s Matty J has chosen Laura Byrne over Elise Stacy as his new leading lady.
Following the shows air Matty spoke to The Daily Telegraph saying he ‘wishes’ he could have sent the other contestants home at the beginning except for Laura.
He says, ‘Do I wish on night one I could have just said goodbye to the 20 other girls and go Laura’s the one? I wish I could have.’
Fans of the show have been quick to point out – if he knew Laura was ‘the one’ all along, why did he lead on and subsequently break the hearts of so many other contestants?
Matty continued to tell the publication, ‘On the one hand you appreciate there is a TV show being made and you want to be entertaining but at the same time I got what I came for and I don’t care.’
Matty’s decision surprised nobody except Elise, who was left heartbroken when he revealed he was in love with Laura.
The hunky marketing manager declared his feelings for Laura at The Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa, located in southern Thailand.
‘Laura, I love you,’ he said, as she burst into tears. ‘I really do think you are so perfect.’
Asking for her right hand, Matty presented Laura with a diamond sparkler – but didn’t propose.
‘I wanted to give you this ring as a sign of just how much I care about you,’ he explained.
‘All I wanted was to fall in love. And to fall in love with someone who’s so amazing and to have them love you back, nothing compares.
