When Mariah Carey and James Packer first started dating in June 2015, on-lookers watched as they turned up the heat rapidly and went from small-time dating to what looked very serious.
Fast forward ten months and James had popped the question with Mariah only too happy and loved-up to say anything but ‘yes’ in January of 2016.
Now though, the couple’s short and roller coaster-like relationship has come crashing down, giving way to speculations about the goings on within the relationship of the brilliant pop singer and the Australian billionaire.
The details of the couple’s marital pre-nuptial agreement was apparently so outrageous that things between the couple became hostile and Carey’s team accused Packer’s business managers of treating her like a gold digger.
Page Six reported that the ‘Infinity’ singer was offered $USD1 million a year for each year of marriage to the Australian casino mogul. Carey’s managers refused, however, making mention that the figure equated to 45 minutes of performance time fees for Carey and that they were insulted.
Further emails reportedly confirm that Carey would receive $6 million per year up to a maximum of $30 million and that she would be permitted a capped credit card that was reserved for the use of living expenses and staff, not for clothing.
In addition to that, there would be no joint bank accounts and Carey and her boys, Monroe and Moroccan would inherit nothing from him.
He would only provide her use of one private jet for herself, her staff, and her children and nannies.
“It shall not be appropriate to provide a second airplane for Mariah’s use, or the use of her children,” it said.
The document continues saying, “James shall have no further obligation to provide clothing for Mariah, but he may, as he chooses, make any gifts of clothing.”
“Except for gifts between them for their engagement, wedding or on birthdays and anniversaries, no item of jewellery and/or personal adornment costing over $250,000 will be deemed a gift unless accompanied by, or promptly followed by, a writing specifically stating, ‘This is my gift to you.’”
“This caused a lot of tension. Her camp said they were treating Mariah like a gold digger, while she thought she was marrying the man of her dreams,” a source reportedly revealed.
