Despite his outward appearance as a harmless pot-smoking, happy-go-lucky kind of guy, Larry Hagman was, in reality, a serial cheat and a drunk, according to new claims by his daughter, Kristina Hagman.
In her new book, The Eternal Party: Understanding My Dad, Larry Hagman, The TV Star America Loved To Hate, Kristina – who was born Heidi Kristina Mary Hagman – writes: ‘Dad liked secrets. Secrets made him feel powerful and in control.’
Despite maintaining his marriage of 58 years to his Swedish-born wife Maj Axelsson, one of his best-kept secrets was that all of his lovers – which reportedly included close family friends – regularly jumped naked into his jacuzzi!
‘Almost everyone who ever walked through our door was someone I saw wet and naked before they left our house,’ Kristina writes.
‘Getting naked into the Jacuzzi with my parents and my brother, Preston… was a slice of our everyday life,’ she adds.
Not only that, but the family would regularly take psychedelic drugs together, while there was often a free-flowing bar.
Kristina, now 58, also goes on to detail how Larry – who sadly passed away in November 2012 at the age of 81 – would start every morning with either a beer or vodka and orange juice, then progress to beer and wine the whole day.
