Sunrise co-host Edwina Bartholemew has made public comment about her rival Karl Stefanovic’s split from his wife.
The long-time Channel 7 reporter slammed rumours circulating about Karl’s wife Cassandra – who came from a journalist position with the ABC – might be replanting her roots before she took time off to raise a family.
At the Cosmopolitan Women of the Year award ceremony this week, Edwina threw conspiracy theorists off the trail, saying, ‘I wouldn’t put too much weight behind rumours you read in the paper.’
Those rumours being that Thornton is looking to rejoin the fold at Channel 7’s Sunrise, a direct rival to her husband’s show on 9, Today.
Cassandra and Karl split in September of this year, so she undoubtedly has a lot more time on her hands to resume her career. Though if what husband Stefanovic said, her family time was never an issue.
‘Cass wanted to be at home, and wants to be there now, and we’re very lucky to be in a financial position where we can do that,’ he told the Herald Sun in 2015.
‘But should she ever want to go back to work, then of course she can.’
And maybe she will, Karl. If she does, it will throw a whole new light on the tensions between the two in the marriage.
